Simple installation: The First Defense® system is as easy and quick to install as a standard precast stormwater pit. The unit is delivered to site completely fabricated, ready to be installed into an excavated hole and connected to the stormwater. |
Treats run-off & pipe flows: The optional grated inlet and/ or up to two pipe inlets gives the First Defense® great flexibility for being installed at source (close to the pollution generation) and these are typically small catchments and mostly hardstand areas such as cark parks. |
Low headloss: The vortex motion of the treatment flow maintains relatively high treatment flows for the headlosses created in the treatment chamber. |
Adaptable: The internal components can easily be adjusted to change the angle between the inlet and outlet for storm drain directional changes and the First Defense® can be configured with single or dual inlets as well as a surface inlet. |
Integral bypass: A built-in bypass prevents re-entrainment of pollutants during high flows and protects against hydraulic overloads of the system. The single pit solution makes it very compact. |
Retains captured pollutants: The internal baffles system as well as the vortex flow regime in the chamber prevents stored pollutants becoming re-entrained during treatment flows and prevents wash-outs during peak flows. |
Good general performance: The First Defense® can remove over 95% of total suspended solids at the design treatment flowrate. |
Quality Assured (ISO 9001:2000): The First Defense® vortex separator is manufactured under license from Hydro Australasia. |
